Panglao is a small island connected to Bohol by two bridges, and it’s home to many of the region’s best hotels and restaurants in Panglao. In this guide, I’ll share the places we enjoyed the most during our stay.
We stayed at South Palms Resort, which is ideal for families with children. As a result, it wasn’t always easy to drag Maria Rita away from the resort! However, on the few occasions when we did, we discovered some excellent restaurants that I’d happily recommend. At the end of the post, I’ve also included a few places that are still on my list for a future visit.
Restaurants in Panglao we tried and loved
If you’d like to try authentic Filipino cuisine, Sisa Bistro is definitely one of the best restaurants in Panglao. It’s a very popular, so I’d recommend booking a table in advance. We managed to get a table without a reservation, but we did have to wait a little while. We ordered the crispy squid and pork ribs with turmeric rice, and everything was absolutely delicious.
The biggest surprise, however, was the dessert. We tried the Crisostomo with an ube filling: crispy fried pastries filled with ube, a type of purple yam widely used in Filipino cuisine. It was honestly one of the best desserts we’ve had in a long time.
If you’re looking for authentic Filipino food at very reasonable prices, I highly recommend Sisa Bistro!
Bohol Bee Farm is so much more than just a restaurant. It also offers accommodation and sits on a beautiful clifftop overlooking the sea. The restaurant follows a farm-to-table philosophy, using fresh, locally sourced ingredients to create traditional Filipino dishes and regional specialities from Bohol.
Bohol Bee Farm is also renowned for producing its own honey and delicious artisan ice cream made with coconut milk and local Filipino flavours. My favourite was the ube ice cream.
I’d recommend visiting for lunch to enjoy the food and the beautiful sea views.
Restaurants in Panglao still on my list
Ubeco fuses contemporary Asian cuisine with traditional Filipino ingredients, putting a modern touch on classic dishes. It is consistently rated as one of the best restaurants in Panglao, so it’s definitely on my list for our next visit.
Barwoo serves Korean cuisine with a local twist and is very popular with both locals and visitors. If you’re planning to eat here in the evening, be prepared to wait for a table, as it’s often busy. However, judging by the reviews, it’s well worth the wait.
